Mt Panti and Pelepah Falls!! (long entry)

yest, on april fool's day, i went to malaysia with my odac pple. hee.. i finally got a chance too. although i have alot of studying to do since it is study break week and i have exams the week after... but i still decided to go la.. and i sure din regret! it was so much fun. yum! yup. so we met at 7am at kranji mrt before heading to johor together. took a bus from there to kota tinggi and then a cab to the start of the trail. and so we started our journey. heee.. there were damn alot of mozzies (according to tv, it's called mozzies.. not mosquitoes man.. yay.. i'm how cool. haha). anyway, there were seriously alot of them and i had the most following me la. even the mosquito patch din work!! i concluded that my brother is smelly cuz he was the one using the bag i carried yest. haha. according to the pple behind me, (think lek n meng heng.. and verified by eleanor) there were a few dozen? they guessed 40. haha cant u imagine that. gross!!! anyway after that, i got my first leech bite for the trip. i used to love leeches. i mean i dun mind them at all. cuz they're not painful. unless it's tiger leech or something. but anyway. yup. we mange to catch a few and i brought it home with me. (think there's abt 10 inside the bottle).. and they're still alive!! shall make lionel feed them later. heeee.... anyway, panti was fine.. everything was usual.. and the view was pretty good too!!

some photos taken on mount panti. this was taken before we started climbing. all look happy n relaxed. :)this funny toadstool thing was taken on the way up panti. damn cute la. they look like mini towers cuz the base is so fat!this was near the summit. we had to climb this cliff part. was fun. like rock climbing. i prefer climbing rocks then on jungle trails actually. but all's fun!this is at the summit. there's only 5 of us at this trip. lek (with his borrowed cam), placed the cam on a tripod and put it on some braches of a tree.. haha.. this is the first injury in all my years as a odac member. i mean of cuz i got scratched n blisters before. but i knew really bled. hmm.. it was quite interesting. and the thing is i got poked by this part sticking out from a fallen trunk (the one i'm stepping on). and it's not even sharp! but i got a hole in my knee now. eleanor helped me cover the wound. heee.. it's not painful at all.... weeee.... this is a red (heart-shaped) leaf i found while trekking.. heee.. i'm gonna give it to lionel. weee..we found this dead snake on the road. haha. so lek decided to pick it up to take a photo.. and look at him (he's in the yellow shirt).. he has his biscuits in the other hand. haha. gross!!

after that, we walked 3km down to pelepah falls. it is actually part of a plantation. can u believe it? someone owns the waterfall? damn cool la. anyway, we told the workers to let us in, promising them that we'll be out in 3 hrs' time. heee. so the next chapter of our journey started. weee... we got lost somewhere and climbed this damn damn damn damn damn damn damn steep slope.. it's unbelieveable.. and jus when u think it's ending, u turn to ur right and it's another steep slope. haha. after climbing it, we felt it was wrong so we turned back. and going down the steeep slope was damn challenging. hah. ya. after that was pretty smooth sailing. manage to see a few cascades.. and as we were descending, it started to drizzle, then rain. it's nice walking in e rain, cuz i dun feel as smelly, and the rain water is refreshing! yup.
the scary part is that it's pretty dangerous to trek a waterfall when it rains cuz the rocks that we walk on will be super slippery n at some parts, if u slip n fall, u're more or less dead. and there were parts that we fell. but luckily, no one fell all the way.. phew. and the worst part was meng heng was at the same place 5 years ago, trekking with the AJ odac pple and some others. and the AJ vice-president died. apparently, she slipped and fell. most likely knock her head a few times, get tossed in the river as the water gushed. cuz it was drizzling and the water level was high. and it was late so they din manage to find her. till the next morning, the police/ rangers found her body. it was all stiff and her fingers were clenched up. she probably died from hypothermia even if she survived the fall. it was super scary. i mean there's surely someone who died at every mountain. even ophir. but it's scarier this time cuz meng knew her. and it makes us feel closer to her. hmmm... scary..

(that's me at the bottm right desperately trying to shorten my bag straps so it wunt get wet so soon. haha meng heng was trying to splash some water to get the water effect in the photo.. but that's us trying to slowly inch our way to the center. the log is damn damn slippery!! we could have fallen and seriously injure ourselves. but for the sake of the photo. haha! (lek's bright idea) hee.. the end product.. quite nice huh.. after that everything was a little blurry cuz it is taken from a ziplock bag.. (that's me!) anyway, after that, we all had some fun at the last river crossing. thanx to meng heng who filled his shoe with river water n splash at me. of cuz i splashed them back. haha. gross but so so fun!that's us posing iwth our weapons. i'm holding my shoe and my dirty sock! haha..i think this was the third or fourth cascade. it looks good. but like what lek said, the camera cant entirely capture what we saw there. it's so much better when u are there la. that's us at marrybrown. the chicken there is actually quite nice!! we felt so happy cuz we were dry n there was food. (we din had lunch :(.. haha) both eleanor n i had food in our foods.. haha. i look constipated. on the bus to larkin... (on the way home).. heee.

i'm thankful for this trip becaus i know the next time they trek, i will be in US. and the next time i trek with them would prob be at least 6 mths later.
